Jeremy Turner

Writer: Kelsey TravisKelsey Travis

Jeremy is one of our lectures at the University of Chester and the head of the Fine art program, not only this but he maintains his own creative practice as a sculpture. Jeremy has given multiple talks to us about his own practice and how this may inspire and inform some of the work we create.

below are just some examples of Jeremy's sculptures:

Here are just a couple of Jeremy's sculptural pieces of work, as seen in the images above many of his creations contain industrial materials and elements, a sense of danger and create a unique and captivating visual impact. Jeremy explained how he has always been interested in how far he could push boundaries, referring to his own creative practice throughout his time in education and through to present day. He often explored the idea of danger and how we perceive this, whether he was stacking objects that shouldn't stay on top of one another, or he was producing exhibitions that had electrical components, fire elements (fig 2), or an excessive amounts of strain etc...

Once I had listened to Jeremy explain his practice, not only is he a great for of inspiration because of the passion he has for creating, but he has demonstrated to each one of us how we can achieve a successful body of work to take onto further studies or into the working world.
