Craig Easton - A Photographer.

Craigs history is that for a young age he was once a photojournalist for a newspaper (Independent Newspaper) he covered a range of main headlines 1990's form subjects such as: Margret Thatcher to IRA bombs and much more, he is now a documentary photographer.

During this lecture Craig discussed how he took inspiration and learnt a range of techniques within photograph from other photographers. Once he had began to learn his craft he decided to concentrate on documentary photography and portraiture, along with developing his own books and series of photography in order to sell and for use within magazines one of which was the Guardian.

Although he is not with my field of work, I took note of the idea of producing work within your own time which is personal to yourself, as this may often lead to job opportunities in the future or may be relevant in the achievement of future plans.

Following on from this Craig explained one of his exhibitions where he documented children and their view on voting as they where approaching the age of 16 when the next vote would occur. He not only photographed the each teenager he accompanied his photographs with statements from each of them explaining their personal views. This came and a series and was impactful as he considered the background of the teens and how this then effects what teenagers look for when they vote for certain candidates.

Overall this lecture was interesting and insightful into an area that I may of not full explored, it also demonstrates how certain creative industries cross over whether it be in the way they work, the subject matter of their work etc...

Examples of his work below.
