I have completed multiple fine-liner drawings that have architectural features, cartoon imagery, a playful nature that is two dimension and contain a graphical appearance. All of these images are bold, throw away imagery. When I use the term throw away I am referring to company signs, theme park logos etc... these are throw away as they aren't seen as significant important things they can be replaced and forgot about, just as easily as the impact they made when they where first put up.
I chose to focus on these pre-existing signs in the begging of my project as it allowed me to consider the components of that makes a sign, advertisement, poster, billboard appealing and exciting for people to view. Once I began to understand this I could take these principles forward into my own personal work.
key things I believe make up a successful advertisement, poster, billboard, logo etc...
> Colour can be significant as it makes something instantly stand out from he crowed. (relevant to fine art and design)
> Composition where elements are placed within a design in order for them to be a focal point of a piece or something which supports the text. (relevant to fine art and design)
> Narrative, the way the sign portrays a business or company for example: a lawyers firm may have a simplistic logo, that is sophisticated compared to a toy shop which can have a logo which is vibrant, playful and expressive to draw in adults, teenagers and especially little children.
> Text, especially in advertisements what is quoted, said, or how things are phrased can really create an impact.
Example of company logos, signs, billboards etc...
