The second lecture within professional practice involved choosing an area for the Degree Show which we were interested in and could contribute to, these groups consisted of a fundraising team, design team, marketing and communication, logistics and curation.
I was particularly drawn to the design aspect of the Degree Show as I believe it is vital to have a person or people within fine art contributing to the designs of broachers, in order to have a equal distribution of subject areas having an input into areas that may be mostly dominated by certain subject areas. Not only was this the reason for my choice I also thought it would be a fun and interesting group to participate in as I am not only interested in fine art I am drawn to design subjects to such as: graphic design, illustration and much more.
Once the year progresses we are all expected to collaborate as part of the curation of the final Degree Show, this will involve a range of tasks some of which are listed below.
> Painting spaces along with tidying up the spaces which were once classrooms and studios.
> Work with staff in order to explain how we would like our degree shows to be installed.
> Working alongside technicians in order to ask specifics or gain skills in order to complete work.
> Discussing quantity in order to organise who gets individual spaces.
This will all come to fruition by May/June when everyones projects have been completed.
