About me.

Currently I am in my third years at the University of Chester studying a BA (hons) in Fine Art, I am a 21 year old who has always been passionate about all forms of art but what particularly intrigued me about fine art courses was the opportunity to explore a range of processes, concepts and subject matters with a certain extent of freedom that the other art subjects did not allow. This was not only the defining reason behind choosing to pursue fine art another factor was my belief the fine art would give a an array of skills that I could then apply to many jobs within the world of art.

My practice throughout my first and second years has been driven by numerous concepts and subject matters as I am fascinated by all aspects of life and the world around us therefore, it gives me endless possibilities to come up with new ideas and new pieces of work. Although I enjoy exploring a range of topics and subject matters this year I have chosen to focus on signage, yet it is not solely based on signs it is about how language and imagery plays of one another in order to convey certain messages. The messages in my project are unknown, yet vulnerable and come to me whilst I am creating. Overall I have chosen this concept for my final year as I believe it will push my skills and thought process in many ways, meaning it will allow me to explore processes and ideas I have never contemplated.

After my final year I hope to go onto further study and this year it will enable me to push myself and take risks that I would of never done previously, hopefully showing that if I went on to study in the future I would be willing to learn, explore, and push myself yet still retain my personal and artistic integrity.

Introduction to professional practice.

​

The basic aim of this module is to introduce students to a range of leading partitioners from across all art and design disciplines such as:  fine artists, graphic designers, product designers and many more. This will allow for each of us to gather a better understanding of were our creative practices fit in the working world, as well as what is required from individuals in order to pursue a specific career path.

This blog will work to examine and reinforce the thoughts and theory behind the skills I have already gained through attending university, alongside emphasising the skills that I will be further developing and gaining throughout my third year. The blog will not only analyse and describe my skill set it will address many aspects of my creative journey, the concerns that often follow that such as: what skills and knowledge I am still lacking and how I may acquire this knowledge in the future, what jobs I am considering and how I may approach these goals.

Ultimately this module and the people we will come into contact with, will allow us to gain key business and promotion skills, providing us with skills graduates usually lack therefore, add depth to our skill set and making us successful candidates in out further artistic careers.
